The consent agenda is a tool used to streamline meeting procedures by collecting routine, non-controversial items into a group whereby all are passed with a single motion and vote.

Does the consent agenda seem like the right place to add homes that are being voted on to condemn and have torn down. I don’t think so!

Regular Agenda – Cambridge Dictionary-the things that a person or organization considers to be important and wants to solve or achieve, or their reasons for wanting to do something.

It is amazing to me that even after two of us asked the City Council to remove the resolutions regarding the houses from the consent agenda to the regular agenda. They refused to do so!

THEY CONSIDERED THE HOUSES TO BE CONDEMNED BY EMINENT DOMAIN AS ROUTINE AND NON-CONTROVERSIAL?

OUR CITY COUNCIL IS NOT ACTING IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CITIZENS OF CEDAR RAPIDS. THEY HAVE THEIR OWN PRIVATE AGENDA THAT IS NOT PRINTED 0UT FOR THE PUBLIC TO SEE.

In the last Council meeting they went into executive session. The number of people that crammed into that room was unusual. It was not just the council and the attorney that were going to discuss the legal items the city is facing.

When it came time for the regular agenda, there was an item about the ImOn Ice Arena getting new seats. Again, this was on the regular agenda. The Council did not want to discuss the homes they are destroying but they did want to discuss seats for the arena and what was going to be done with the old seats.
